WORKSHOP TALKS

The idea comes while speaking

Kleist

(On the gradual formation of thoughts while speaking)

The gradual emergence of thoughts while talking and the gradual emergence of things while doing is a perfect combination – and at the same time an invitation to get in touch with each other, to discuss things and to understand them with our minds and hands. It is also about sharing experiences and time.

What happens when we understand talking not only as a means of exchange, but as a tool for thinking? When we understand doing not only as production, but as a process of discovery? The workshop discussions take place at precisely this interface. They are a mixture of artist talk and lecture, an invitation to participate – and thus become a communal space for thinking, conneting and making.

The workshop talks explore the intersection of art, craftsmanship and society. With changing focal points, artistic ideas and craft methods are presented, which can be discussed and tried out during participation. References are made to strategies of artistic creation, contemporary positions in art and art history. Artists and theorists provide insights into specific thematic areas, such as authorship in art, the use of fibres and textiles as artistic materials, quilting and embroidery as forms of expression, and the significance of colour in art.

Please note: The workshop talks are an experimental introduction to various topics - and not workshops.

The aim of the workshop talks is to facilitate access to different art forms and artistic positions in a communicative and playful way - they are deliberately not geared towards concrete results, but rather an invitation to participate.
