Our clothes tell stories about us and our search for human warmth and belonging.

Sofi Thanhauser

Thursday, November 16, 2023
2 to 4 pm

The workshop talk focused on Sofi Thanhauser’s important book *Worn*, exploring how the textile trade and the East India Company spurred the development of patchwork and examining the artistic and social potential inherent in the design of a patchwork block.

Sofi Thanhauser succeeds in a remarkable way at telling the story of our clothing and highlighting connections that are rarely made.

The workshop talk centered on a history in which women have always played a central role in many parts of the world. It also explored how commercialization and trade have contributed to the devaluation of textile innovations and the artistic and social significance inherent in them.
