Quilting Bee Project
My Bee is a socially engaged art project that transfers the tradition of quilting bees into a contemporary art context. The starting point is the historical practice of communal sewing—a collective process that went far beyond the production of a quilt and focused on exchange, care, and the transfer of knowledge.
In meinem Atelier wird diese Praxis zur künstlerischen Methode: Die Bee ist ein offener Produktions- und Denkraum. Im Fokus steht slow stitching als bewusste, entschleunigte Handlung und als Form kollektiver Zeitlichkeit. Textile Arbeiten – von Patchwork bis Stickerei – werden hier zu Trägern von Begegnung und Dialog. Als socially engaged art project begreift die Bee Gemeinschaft selbst als Medium. Das gemeinsame Arbeiten erzeugt ein soziales Gefüge, in dem Wissen zirkuliert, Beziehungen entstehen und kollektive Autorschaft erfahrbar wird. Das Atelier wird so zum Raum, in dem Care, Handwerk und Kunst unmittelbar miteinander verwoben sind.
